| Clydfan is a typical Welsh cottage situated on the outskirts of the mountain village of Carmel. The name Clydfan is Welsh for cozy place, and we are sure that all our guests will find Clydfan warm, friendly and cozy.
We have extensive gardens with beautiful views overlooking the Caernarfon Bay. Guests are free to wonder around the garden, or simply sit at one of several seats around the garden and enjoy the views.
The sitting/dining room has colour TV and hi-fi system. There are a vast number of books to read, many giving details of walks and drives in the area and also many easy reading novels. We have many board games etc. and our guests are able to come and go as they please throughout the day.
The bedrooms have wonderful views - the double room to Caernarfon Bay and Anglesey. The twin room has views to the front as the double and the back overlooking our garden and the mountain of Cilgwyn.
We are within easy driving distance of the Snowdonian National Park, there are numerous clean sandy beaches close by. Other attractions include Slate caverns, narrow gauge steam railways travelling through beautiful countryside. The area boasts of a number of historical Castles. Snowdon Mountain at 3140 feet is the highest mountain in Wales and it too has a steam railway running ot the top of the mountain. Other attractions include Portmeirion and Italianate village - home of the 'Prisoner' series on the TV.
Directions
Take the A55 from Chester, Caernarfon A487 signposted Porthmadog for approx 4.5 miles until you see a sign at island for A487 Penygroes and take first exit (signed Penygroes) and at the next island take the first exit signed for Carmel and Groeslon. Then straight on until you see Carmel village sign at the side of the road. Fork right at the bungalow. At the next junction turn right and we are the first big white house on the left. Alternatively, from the A5 through Capel Curig take the Caernarfon road and then follow directions as above.
